HTML / XHTML / CSS Examples
- Horror Literature: a little site I made just for fun -- and to show off my creative side. (Please notice the use of a fixed navigation bar using CSS.)
- Square One Design: Intentionally low bandwidth to insure quick loading. Despite the similarity in the logo, the design was created before Microsoft released its Media Player. (Written in valid XHTML)
- Cascading Style Sheet Samples (Written in valid XHTML and CSS)
- A Pop-Up Blocker Detector Page: An illustration of substance over style and of my "taking the initiative" in addressing an issue that I faced as a Service Desk Analyst. (Adapting 3rd party JavaScript.)
- ISP Help Desk Internal Resource: This is an example of initiative and problem solving over beautiful design and sophisticated programming. (Written in valid XHTML using a table for internal layout)
- Selected Pages from One TS/CS Analyst's Personal "Intranet": Another example of initiative and problem solving. At one ISP I needed immediate access to dozens of links and it was useful to have immediate access to hundreds more. Since there was no single web site that had all the links I wanted and since my workstation changed daily, I created my own "floppy disk intranet" Here's a modified recreation. There is no proprietary or sensitive data on these pages.
- First National Bank of Gotham City
- Interactive Tutorial on making a simple HTML change and converting a Word 97 Document to HTML.
- Snoop Deputy Dawg Pet Grooming: Page layout performed entirely in CSS. No tables were used in layout. A single table is used for showing tabular data --- data relationships.
- Frames and JavaScript Rollover Menu: I avoid frames in my design but I know how to create them. (Written in valid XHTML)
- Image Slicing: a demonstration of image slicing performed with PaintShop Pro. (Written in valid XHTML)
- Bout-Cave: My personal home page.
- eValentine Page layout performed entirely in CSS. (Written in valid XHTML)
- GarBou Productions
- Résumé (Written in valid XHTML using a table for internal layout)
ColdFusion / Fusebox Examples
Writing Samples
JavaScript / DHTML Samples
- Silly JavaScript Tricks: (Simple scripts I wrote myself)
- Cool Form: "Under Construction." This application is developed with JavaScript, ColdFusion, and Fusebox --- but mostly JavaScript. As I mentioned on my Silly JavaScript Tricks page, I'm in the process of teaching myself that language. Some of the JavaScript is third party. I hope to replace that soon with scripts I'll write myself. Most of the validation JavaScript was generated through Dreamweaver behaviors.
- A Pop-Up Blocker Detector Page (Adapting 3rd party JavaScript.)
- Interactive Tutorial (Adapting 3rd party JavaScript.)
- Splash Page for "Snoop Deputy Dawg Pet Grooming" (Running dog DHTML generated through Dreamweaver.)
XML Examples
Starting December 2008, I've begun teaching myself XML. I haven't applied it professionally yet.
WAP / WML Example
I've taught myself WAP but I haven't applied it professionally. Looking at the direction that mobile device technology is going --- as mobile phones dsiplay entire web pages written in HTML with graphics and fonts included --- it looks unlikely that WAP will be necessary for future generations of mobile devices. But it's always better to have a skill or know a language than not.
These documents must be viewed with the Opera browser, a mobile browser, or a WAP emulator.
